After more than 13 years working in a bank environment, most recently as a branch manager, Eran Obadia decided he was ready for a change.

Eran’s career journey began with one of Canada’s major banks. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science degree in chemistry from York University, Eran took on a part-time job as a teller at Scotiabank to pay the bills. He soon discovered a passion for personal finance.

Eran climbed the banking ranks, earning a certificate in Advanced Financial Advice and working in various roles—while garnering several awards for outstanding performance and customer service excellence—before becoming a financial advisor, assistant manager and, eventually, a branch manager.  However, with more senior roles came a detachment from his clients. “I missed building relationships at the grassroots level—I still have clients to this day who came to me to obtain a mortgage for their first home, but now they’re on their third home and they have kids. I missed having a direct hand in helping them make the decisions as they moved up the property ladder and being a larger part of their wealth building journey.”

In his role at Outline, Eran is dedicated to helping first-time home buyers, existing homeowners, and investors access customized mortgage solutions that align with their goals.  Every recommendation comes with the critical information needed to understand how the financing decisions can impact a clients’ long-term personal financial outcome. “Having that knowledge allows clients to plan for everything from their children’s education, buying multiple properties, planning for renovations, or just keeping an eye on the long-term goal of retirement.” he says. “It’s all about setting them up for future success.”

Here’s what you may not know about Eran: An avid soccer player, golfer and snowboarder, Eran spends a good portion of his time away from the office enjoying the outdoors. When he’s spending time with his family at home, the long-time LEGO fan indulges his passion for plastic-brick construction with the occasional purchase of a Star Wars-themed kit for himself—even if he tells his wife that the toy is really for their son.
